And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Aloo Aur Shakkarkand Ke Kabab Recipe

  • Potato boiled and peeled 2 medium

  • Sweet Potato boiled and peeled 2 medium

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Roasted cumin powder 1 teaspoon

  • Black salt (kala namak) 1/2 teaspoon

  • Butter 2 tablespoons

  • Green chutney as required

  • Sweet date and tamarind chutney as required


Step 1

Heat a little oil on a non stick grill pan. Cut potatoes into 1 inch cubes and place them in a bowl.

Step 2

Cut sweet potatoes into 1 inch cubes and place them into another bowl. Sprinkle salt over both.

Step 3

Add ¼ tsp red chilli powder, ½ tsp roasted cumin powder, ¼ tsp black salt and 1 tbsp oil to each bowl and mix.

Step 4

Thread sweet potatoes and potatoes alternately onto satay sticks.

Step 5

Place the satay sticks on the grill pan and cook rotating the sticks.

Step 6

Baste with butter and cook till lightly golden.

Step 7

Remove onto a serving plate, drizzle green chutney and sweet chutney over the kababs and serve hot.
