Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Baked Methi Puri Recipe

  • Dried Fenugreek Leaves soaked in water 4 tablespoons

  • Whole Wheat Flour 1 cup

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Cumin powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil 4 tablespoons

Method

Step 1

Preheat an oven to 180°C.

Step 2

Put flour, dried fenugreek leaves, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, salt into a deep bowl.

Step 3

Add four tablespoons oil and sufficient water and knead into a stiff dough.

Step 4

Divide the dough into sixteen equal portions, shape into balls and roll out into three-inch diameter puris.

Step 5

Arrange the puris on a large greased baking tray.

Step 6

Put the tray in the preheated oven and bake for fifteen minutes or till golden brown.

Step 7

Cool and store in airtight containers.
