Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Baked Namak Pare - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Refined flour 1 1/2 cups

  • Whole wheat flour 1/2 cup

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil 2 tablespo to grease

  • Carom seeds (ajwain 1/2 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Preheat the oven at 180˚ C. Heat oil in a non-stick pan.

Step 2

Take refined flour, whole wheat flour, salt and carom seeds in a parat. Add the hot oil and sufficient water and knead to stiff dough.

Step 3

Divide the dough into equal medium sized portions. Grease the worktop with a little oil, place a portion of dough and roll out into thin sheet. Cut the sheet into long strips vertically. Further make horizontal cuts on the sheet to make small squares. Similarly make more squares with the remaining dough portions.

Step 4

Transfer the small squares on a baking tray. Keep the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes. Bring the tray out of the oven and cool down to room temperature.

Step 5

Serve or store in an airtight container.
