How to make Bread Dosa -

Bread and rawa mixed with yogurt, ginger, onion and green chilli make a delicious dosa. An off-beat dosa that everybody will enjoy, even hardcore dosa fans! Made with bread, rice flour and semolina, this Bread Dosa can be made without much pre-planning because you don't need to ferment the batter. They can also be served for a light meal anytime of the day

History of Indian cuisine dates back to nearly 5,000-years ago when various groups and cultures interacted with India that led to a diversity of flavours and regional cuisines.
Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Bread Dosa Recipe

  • White bread slices 10 slices

  • Semolina (rawa/suji) 1/2 cup

  • Rice flour 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Yogurt whisked 2 teaspoon

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Split black gram skinless (dhuli urad dal) 2 teaspoons

  • Curry leaves chopped 2-3

  • Ginger chopped 1/2 inch piece

  • Green chillies chopped 1-2

  • Onion chopped 1 medium

Method

Step 1

Trim the edges of the bread slices. Soak the slices in sufficient water for two to three minutes. Take semolina, rice flour, salt and add sufficient water to make a thin batter. Squeeze out excess water from the soaked bread and lightly crumble with hand.

Step 2

Add it to the batter along with whisked yogurt. Put the mixture in a mixer and blend. Transfer to a clean bowl and adjust the consistency.

Step 3

Heat two tablespoons of oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds, dhuli urad dal, curry leaves, chopped ginger, green chillies, onion and sauté till onions are lightly browned. Set aside to cool. Heat a dosa tawa.

Step 4

Put some oil on it and wipe with a clean wet cloth. Add the tempering to the batter and mix well. Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the hot tawa and spread.

Step 5

Pour a little oil on top and sides and cook for two to three minutes. Turn and cook the other side similarly. Prepare the other dosas similarly. Serve hot with chutney.
