Ingredients list for Bread Idli

  • 8 White bread slices
  • 3 Large potatoes boiled, peeled and mashed
  • 5 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves chopped
  • 3-4 Green chillies chopped
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 1/4 cups Yogurt
  • 3/4 cup Carrot grated
  • 4 teaspoons Oil
  • to serve Green coconut chutney

Method

  1. Place a medium sized cookie cutter over each bread slice and cut out roundels.
  2. Take potatoes in a bowl. Add 3 tbsps coriander leaves, green chillies, salt and turmeric powder, mix well.
  3. Take yogurt in another bowl, add carrot, remaining coriander leaves and salt and whisk till well combined.
  4. Spread some potato mixture on one side of each bread roundel evenly. Spread some yogurt mixture on the other side of each bread roundel evenly.
  5. For two portions, heat 2 tsps oil in a non-stick tawa, place 4 bread roundels with the potato mixture side facing down. Cover and cook on medium heat for 3-4 minutes. Cook the remaining 4 roundels similarly.
  6. Arrange them on a serving platter and serve hot with green coconut chutney.
