Ingredients list for Butter Sev

  • 1/4 cup Butter
  • 1.1/2-2 cups Gram flour (besan)
  • + for greasing Oil for deep-frying
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Asafoetida
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder

Method

  1. Grease a chakli press attached with sev stencil with some oil.
  2. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
  3. Put gram flour, salt, asafoetida, turmeric powder, cumin powder and coriander powder in a bowl and mix.
  4. Melt butter in a microwave, add to flour mixture. Add some water and knead into a stiff dough.
  5. Grease your palms with some oil and put a portion of the dough into the greased chakli press.
  6. Press sev directly into the hot oil and deep-fry on low heat till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper. Cool.
  7. Serve or store in an airtight container.
