Ever wondered why the phrase “say cheese” is used just before a photograph is clicked? Simply because ‘cheese’ makes one smile! Not only the word but cheese as a food makes a lot of palates happy. It is an inexpensive, versatile and nourishing food. We have our very own Indian version as well as the ones made from soy milk that are even healthier. Whichever form, this is one food that is loved by one and all!

Ingredients for Cheese Pockets-SK Khazana Recipe

  • Cheddar cheese grated 3/4 cup

  • Processed cheese grated 3/4 cup

  • Cream cheese 3/4 cup

  • Readymade pizza dough 250 grams

  • Butter for greasing

  • Salt to taste

  • Black peppercorns crushed to taste

  • Dried mixed herbs 1/2 teaspoon

  • Fresh parsley chopped 1 teaspoon

  • Red capsicum chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Yellow capsicum chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Refined flour (maida) for dusting

  • Milk for brushi


Step 1

Preheat oven to 180˚C.

Step 2

Mix together cheddar cheese, processed cheese, cream cheese, salt, crushed peppercorns, mixed herbs, parsley, red capsicum and yellow capsicum in a bowl.

Step 3

Dust the worktop with some flour. Place the dough on it and roll out into a large thin disc.

Step 4

Cut into squares, place a spoonful of cheese mixture in the centre of each square, apply water on the edges and bring the edges over. Seal with a fork.

Step 5

Grease a baking tray with some butter.

Step 6

Place the pockets on the greased tray and brush with some milk. Put the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes.

Step 7

Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
