The cuisine of The United States is a rich amalgamation of peoples, religions and cultures thanks to the immigrants from different parts of the world.  They brought with them their local ingredients as well as cooking styles with them.  Yet amidst all these varieties Chinese and Italian cuisines dominate.  
During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Americans developed a number of new foods.  What characterised the American cuisine is the adaptation of a fusion of multiple ethnic cooking styles. During this period food production and presentation became more industrialised.

Ingredients for Cheese Waffles Recipe

  • Cheese grated 1 cup

  • Refined flour (maida) 2 cups

  • Baking powder 2 teaspoons

  • Cayenne pepper 1 teaspoon

  • Black peppercorns crushed to taste

  • Eggs 3

  • Milk 2 cups

  • Sugar 1 teaspoon

  • Butter melted 1/2 cup

Method

Step 1

Sift flour and baking powder into a bowl. Add cayenne pepper and crushed peppercorns. Bread the eggs and separate the yolks and whites.

Step 2

Add egg yolks to the flour along with milk, sugar, butter and grated cheese and whisk until smooth. Refrigerate this mixture for an hour.

Step 3

Whip the egg whites till stiff and add them to this mixture. Pour the mixture into a preheated waffle iron and cook for two to three minutes on either sides or till the waffles become golden brown and crispy.

Step 4

Serve hot with stewed fruits.
