Ingredients list for Chicken With Orange And Figs

  • 800 grams Chicken
  • 2 Oranges
  • 8 Figs
  • 4 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1 medium Onion chopped
  • 6 cloves Garlic crushed
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons English mustard powder
  • 1/2 cup Tomato ketchup
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black peppercorns ground
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar

Method

  1. Cut the chicken into eight pieces. Cut the oranges into six segments each. Soak the figs in water for some time. Heat oil in a saucepan and add chopped onions, crushed garlic, Worcestershire sauce, mustard powder and tomato ketchup.
  2. Add red chilli flakes and freshly ground peppercorns and stir. Remove from heat. Add salt and sugar and mix well. Cool the marinade. Add the marinade to the chicken and figs and let it stand for about an hour.
  3. Take the skewers and thread an orange segment, a chicken piece, a fig and continue in this order. Press them a little and arrange them on the barbecue. Baste them with butter occasionally and when they turn brown and the chicken is cooked it is ready to be served.
