The cuisine of The United States is a rich amalgamation of peoples, religions and cultures thanks to the immigrants from different parts of the world.  They brought with them their local ingredients as well as cooking styles with them.  Yet amidst all these varieties Chinese and Italian cuisines dominate.  
During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Americans developed a number of new foods.  What characterised the American cuisine is the adaptation of a fusion of multiple ethnic cooking styles. During this period food production and presentation became more industrialised.

Ingredients for Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

  • Chocolate Chips 3/4 cup

  • Refined Flour 3/4 cup

  • Low fat butter 60 grams

  • Egg white 1

  • Vanilla essence 1/2 teaspoon

  • Soda bicarbonate 1/2 teaspoon

  • Salt 1/4 teaspoon

  • Sugar Free 15 measure

  • Walnut kernels coarsely crushed 1/2 cup


Step 1

Preheat oven to 180°C/ 350 °F/ Gas Mark 4.

Step 2

Grease a baking tray. Take butter in a bowl and cream it. Add egg white and vanilla essence and continue to cream for sometime and set aside.

Step 3

In a separate bowl, sift together flour, soda bicarbonate and salt and fold into the butter mixture and mix well.

Step 4

Add Sugar Free, walnuts and chocolate chips, reserving a few chocolate chips and mix. Divide the dough into twelve equal portions and shape each into a round cookie.

Step 5

Place the cookies on the greased baking tray keeping enough distance between each. Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top and bake in the preheated oven for twenty to twenty five minutes.

Step 6

When done remove onto a wire rack to cool before serving or store in an airtight container.
