Ingredients for Dahiwala Cake Recipe

  • Yogurt 1 cup

  • Refined Flour 2 1/4 cups

  • Baking powder 2 teaspoons

  • Eggs 5

  • Butter 3/4 cup + for greasing

  • Castor sugar (caster sugar) 1 cup

  • Vanilla essence 1 teaspoon

  • Lemon rind grated 1 teaspoon

  • Castor sugar (caster sugar) 1 cup

  • Baking soda 1/4 teaspoon


Step 1

Preheat the oven at 180°C. Grease a cake tin.Sieve together maida, baking powder and baking soda into a bowl.

Step 2

Break eggs, separate the whites and yolks.

Step 3

Whisk together butter and sugar in a bowl, add 1 egg yolk at a time and keep whisking.

Step 4

Add vanilla essence, lemon rind and yogurt and mix well. Fold maida into this batter.

Step 5

Whisk egg whites separately and add to the maida mixture.

Step 6

Pour the batter into the greased cake tin and bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes.

Step 7

Remove from the mould and cut into wedges. Arrange the wedges on a serving plate and serve.
