Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Dal Pooda With Paneer Stuffing Recipe

  • Split Green Gram Skinless soaked for 3-4 hours and drained 1 cup

  • Cottage Cheese cut into fingers 200 grams

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 2 tablespoons

  • Oil as required

  • Garam masala powder 1/2 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Grind the dal with one and a half cups water into a smooth batter. Add half teaspoon salt, half teaspoon red chilli powder and one tablespoon chopped coriander. Mix well and set aside. Heat oil in a non-stick pan.

Step 2

Add remaining salt, garam masala powder and remaining red chilli powder. Mix well and switch off the heat. Add paneer fingers and remaining coriander.

Step 3

Mix well and place on medium heat. Fry for a few seconds and set aside. Heat a non-stick tawa. Pour a ladleful of batter and spread to make a cheela.

Step 4

Pour some oil on the sides and cook till lightly brown from one side. Meanwhile heat the Grill Pan. Remove cheela from the tawa and place on a heated non-stick grill.

Step 5

Place a paneer piece at one end of the cheela. Roll and turn over and cook till evenly done on the other side. Serve hot with mint chutney.
