Fusion cuisine is one that combines elements of different culinary traditions. Cuisines of this type are not categorized according to any one particular cuisine style and have played a part in a number of innovations.
Fusion food is a general term for the combination of various forms of cookery and comes in several forms.

Ingredients for Fig Bread Recipe

  • Dried figs soaked and pureed 1 cup

  • Refined flour (maida) 4 cups + for dusting

  • Fresh yeast 1 tablespoon

  • Castor sugar (caster sugar) A pinch + 1 teaspoon

  • Salt ½ teaspoon

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Milk powder 1 tablespoon

  • Butter ¼ cup + for brushing and for greasing


Step 1

Take yeast in a small bowl. Add a pinch of castor sugar ad 2-3 tablespoons water, mix well and set aside to activate.

Step 2

Put flour in an electric dough maker. Add salt, 1 teaspoon castor sugar, cumin seeds, milk powder, activated yeast, butter and pureed figs and process.

Step 3

Add some water and process until a soft dough is formed. Transfer into a bowl, cover with cling film and set aside to prove for 20 minutes.

Step 4

Grease a loaf tin with some butter and dust with some flour.

Step 5

Dust the worktop with some flour, transfer the dough and knock back to release excess air.

Step 6

Shape it into a thick log and put into the greased tin, cover with cling film and set aside to prove for 15-20 minutes.

Step 7

Preheat oven to 180° C.

Step 8

Brush the surface with some butter, place the tin in the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes. Remove from oven, cool and demould.

Step 9

Slice and serve.
