During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Americans developed a number of new foods.  What characterised the American cuisine is the adaptation of a fusion of multiple ethnic cooking styles. During this period food production and presentation became more industrialised.

Ingredients for Fish In Tomato Pepper Sauce Recipe

  • Fish 1(675) grams

  • Lemon juice 2 tablespoons

  • Dried oregano 1/2 teaspoon

  • Dried basil 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Black peppercorns crushed 10

  • Garlic chopped 2-3 cloves


  • Garlic chopped 6 cloves

  • Onion chopped 1 medium

  • Tomato concasse 2 cups

  • White wine 1/2 cup

  • Tomato ketchup 3 tablespoons


Step 1

Fillet the fish and cut into four steaks. Combine lemon juice, half of the oregano, basil, salt, peppercorns and garlic and apply on the fish steaks.

Step 2

Set aside to marinate for twenty to thirty minutes. In a non-stick frying pan roast garlic and onion till brown. Add tomato concasse, remaining oregano, white wine and tomato ketchup and cook for a couple of minutes

Step 3

Add marinated fish steaks. Cover and allow the fish to cook. Serve hot.
