Why is it that when you are stuck at “what should we cook today” the answer is always “make some aloo!” Potatoes are like this…extremely popular and have multipurpose usage.

And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Indonesian Potatoes Recipe

  • Potatoes cut into wedges 4 large

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Spring onions sliced 3

  • Sugar 1 1/2 tablespoons

  • Soy sauce 2 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh red chillies sliced 2

Method

Step 1

Heat sufficient oil in a wok, add the potato wedges and deep fry till lightly browned. Drain and set aside on absorbent paper.

Step 2

Heat one tablespoon of oil in another wok and add spring onions and sauté for a minute. Add sugar, dark soy sauce and salt and mix. Add fried potatoes and fresh red chillies. Mix and cook for a minute.

Step 3

Serve hot.
