Italian cuisine has developed through centuries of social and political changes, with roots stretching to antiquity.  Italian cuisine is simple and a number of dishes having only four to eight ingredients.  They rely mostly on the quality of ingredients rather than elaborate preparation.
Noteworthy changes in Italian cuisine happened with the discovery of the New World and the introduction of potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers and maize, which are now an integral part of this cuisine.  Italian cuisine is known for its regional diversity each with a distinct taste.  This cuisine today is probably one of the most popular in the world.

Ingredients for Italian Sausage Pizza Recipe

  • Pizza base 6 Inches 2

  • Sausages thin slices spicy 4

  • Olive oil 1 tablespoon

  • Garlic chopped 2 cloves

  • Dried oregano

  • Tomato concasse 2 cups

  • Onion chopped 1 small

  • Tomato puree 1/2 cup

  • Basil leaves,torn 2

  • Sugar 1/2 teaspoon

  • Peppercorns crushed 6-8

  • FOR TOPPING

  • Button mushrooms sliced 4

  • Mozzarella cheese grated 1 cup

  • Mixed herbs 1/2 teaspoon

  • Red chilli flakes 1/2 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Peppercorns crushed 6-8

  • Olive oil 2 teaspoons

Method

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 200°C. For the sauce, heat olive oil in a pan; add garlic and a large pinch of dried oregano and sauté for half a minute. Add the onion and sauté till translucent. Add tomato concasse and cook till all the moisture has evaporated.

Step 2

Add tomato purée and cook for another five to eight minutes. Add the basil leaves, salt, sugar and half the crushed peppercorns and mix well.

Step 3

Set aside to cool. Spread the sauce evenly over the pizza bases and sprinkle with mushrooms. Arrange the sausage slices over the mushrooms. Sprinkle with the grated cheese, dried herbs, chilli flakes, salt and crushed peppercorns.

Step 4

Drizzle olive oil over and bake for ten to fifteen minutes till the cheese melts. Remove from the oven, cut into wedges and serve immediately.
