Leftover Dal Puri

Ingredients 

  • ½ cup leftover dal
  • 1½ cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon oil + to deep fry 
  • Potato sabzi to serve

Method

  1. Take whole wheat flour in a mixing bowl, add carom seeds, leftover dal and salt and mix well. Add enough water and knead into stiff dough. Add oil and mix well. Set aside for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
  3. Divide the dough into equal portions. Apply oil on the worktop and roll out each portion into medium-sized thin puris.
  4. Slide the puris into hot oil and deep-fry till puffed and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
  5. Arrange the puris on a serving plate and serve hot with potato sabzi.
