Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Leftover Dal Puri - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Leftover dal 1/2 cup

  • Whole wheat flour 1 1/2 cups

  • Carom seeds (ajwain) 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil 1 tablespo to deep fry

  • Potato sabzi to serve


Step 1

Take whole wheat flour in a mixing bowl, add carom seeds, leftover dal and salt and mix well. Add enough water and knead into stiff dough. Add oil and mix well. Set aside for 10-15 minutes.

Step 2

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.

Step 3

Divide the dough into equal portions. Apply oil on worktop and roll out each portion into medium sized thin puris.

Step 4

Slide the puris into hot oil and deep-fry till puffed and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 5

Arrange the puris on a serving plate and serve hot with potato subzi.
