Ingredients list for Moong Toast

  • 1 cup Whole green gram (sabut moong) , soaked for 5-6 hours and boiled
  • 8 Brown bread slices
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 3 medium Potatoes , boiled and peeled
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Chaat masala
  • 1 tablespoon Pav bhaji masala
  • as required Coriander-mint chutney
  • to cook Butter
  • 1 medium Onion , cut into thin roundels layers separated

Method

  1. Chop onion finely and put into a bowl and add green gram. Crush boiled potatoes and add.
  2. Add salt, chaat masala and pav bhaji masala and mix well mashing slightly.
  3. Apply coriander-mint chutney on all the bread slices. Spread gram mixture generously on 4 slices and cover them with the remaining 4 slices. Apply a little butter on outer sides of the sandwiches.
  4. Grease a sandwich toaster with butter or oil or ghee, place a sandwich in it, close and cook on medium heat, turning sides till both sides are golden.
  5. Cut each sandwich into 2 triangles, place them on individual serving plates, garnish with onion rings and serve hot.
