Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Paneer Corn Bread Pakoda - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Cottage cheese (paneer) grated 2 cups

  • Corn kernels boiled 1 cup

  • White bread slices 8

  • Ready made gram flour (besan) batter as required

  • Oil 1 tablespoon

  • Garlic paste 2 teaspoons

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Asafoetida 1/2 teaspoon

  • Green chillies chopped 2

  • Salt to taste

  • Oil to deep fry


Step 1

Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a non-stick pan, add garlic paste and sauté for 30 seconds.

Step 2

Add corn kernels, mix and sauté for 1-2 minutes. Add turmeric powder, asafoetida powder, green chillies and salt, mix well and sauté for 2 minutes.

Step 3

Add cottage cheese, mix and cook for 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.

Step 4

Top 4 bread slices with a generous portion cottage cheese mixture and cover with remaining bread slices.

Step 5

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.

Step 6

Cut each sandwich into triangles, dip in gram batter and deep-fry in hot oil till golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 7

Arrange them on a serving platter and serve hot with tomato ketchup.
