A favourite with the vegetarians, paneer made from milk is quite common, especially paneer recipes are quite popular in the Indian subcontinent. You can make it fresh, chhena – an another version or just use the ones that are readily available in the market to prepare everything from simple snacks, curries, sabzis, mithais, desserts and the likes. An ingredient that can be relished in the raw form too – try serving it as a starter just sprinkled with a little chaat masala, black salt and chilli powder!

Ingredients for Paneer Corndog - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Paneer (cottage cheese) cut into 4 inch thick strips 500 grams

  • Cornmeal 1 cup

  • Refined flour (maida) 3 tablespoons

  • Paprika powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Baking soda a pinch

  • Baking powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Buttermilk 1 1/2 cups

  • Mustard sauce to serve

  • Tomato ketchup to serve

Method

Step 1

Put corn meal in a jar, add refined flour, paprika, baking soda, baking powder and salt and mix well.

Step 2

Add buttermilk and mix well to form a thick batter.

Step 3

Insert a satay stick in the center of each cottage cheese strip.

Step 4

Heat sufficient oil in a wok. , Dip each cottage cheese strip in the batter and slide into the hot oil. Deep-fry till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.

Step 5

Arrange them in a serving bowl and serve hot with mustard sauce and tomato ketchup.
