The cuisine of The United States is a rich amalgamation of peoples, religions and cultures thanks to the immigrants from different parts of the world.  They brought with them their local ingredients as well as cooking styles with them.  Yet amidst all these varieties Chinese and Italian cuisines dominate.  
During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Americans developed a number of new foods.  What characterised the American cuisine is the adaptation of a fusion of multiple ethnic cooking styles. During this period food production and presentation became more industrialised.

Ingredients for Peach and Walnut Salad Recipe

  • Fresh Peaches tinned 4

  • Walnut Kernels 4

  • Walnut kernels 1/2 cup

  • Iceberg lettuce leaves soaked in chilled water 7-8

  • Broccoli blanched 15-20 florets

  • Eggless mayonnaise 2 tablespoons

  • Chilli garlic sauce 2 tablespoons

  • Red chilli sauce 1/2 teaspoon

  • Mint leaves a few


Step 1

Heat water in a non stick pan, add walnuts and blanch them for 2-3 minutes. Remove the lettuce leaves from water and pat them dry with tissue paper.

Step 2

Drain the walnuts, refresh in cold water and put them in a bowl. Roughly cut fresh peaches and also tinned peaches. Put mayonnaise in another bowl, add chilli garlic and mix well. Add red chilli sauce and mix.

Step 3

Tear the lettuce leaves and put into a mixing bowl. Add broccoli, peaches, walnuts, mayonnaise dressing. Finely chop mint leaves and add to the bowl. Mix with a light hand.

Step 4

Transfer into a serving plate and serve immediately.
