During the 18th and 19th centuries, the Americans developed a number of new foods.  What characterised the American cuisine is the adaptation of a fusion of multiple ethnic cooking styles. During this period food production and presentation became more industrialised.

Ingredients for Pineapple And Coconut Souffle With Dark Chocolate Recipe

  • Pineapple 1 small ti

  • Desiccated Coconut Powder 60 grams

  • Dark chocolate grated 250 grams

  • Butter 3/4 cup

  • Refined flour (maida) 1/2 cup

  • Milk (full cream) 1/2 cup

  • Fresh cream 100 millilitres

  • Egg yolks 2

  • Castor sugar (caster sugar) 1 cup

  • Egg whites 5


Step 1

Preheat oven at 180° C. Melt butter in a non stick pan, add desiccated coconut powder, mix and cook till the coconut turns light brown.

Step 2

Melt the chocolate in a microwave. Cut pineapple slices into small pieces.

Step 3

Add refined flour to the pan and cook for a minute on low heat. Slowly add milk and cook till thick.

Step 4

Turn off the heat and add fresh cream and mix well.

Step 5

Add pineapple, melted chocolate and egg yolks and mix well.

Step 6

Transfer mixture into a bowl. Blend egg whites in another bowl with a hand mixer, adding sugar little by little.

Step 7

Slowly add egg white mixture to the first bowl and mix well.

Step 8

Pour mixture into ramekin moulds and bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Serve hot.
