Ingredients for Pizza Margherita Roll Recipe

  • Refined flour (maida) 1 cup

  • Dried yeast 1 teaspoon

  • Sugar 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Olive oil for greasing

  • Extra virgin olive oil for drizzling + brushing

  • Pizza sauce 4 tablespoons

  • Fresh basil leaves 20-24

  • Fresh mozzarella cheese balls (Bocconcini) 8


Step 1

Put refined flour in a bowl, add yeast, sugar and salt, mix well and knead into medium-soft dough. Set aside for 1-1½ hours.

Step 2

Preheat oven to 200º C.

Step 3

Divide the dough into 4 equal portions, shape them into balls and roll out into thin chapattis.

Step 4

Grease baking tray with olive oil and place a chapatti on it. Spread 1 tbsp pizza sauce over it and place 5-6 basil leaves. Slice some fresh mozzarella cheese and place on it, drizzle extra virgin olive oil on top, fold to make a roll and brush top of the roll with extra virgin olive oil. Similarly prepare the rest of the rolls.

Step 5

Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes. Reduce temperature to 180º C and bake for 35-40 minutes.

Step 6

Cut the pizza rolls into roundels, arrange on a serving plate and serve immediately.
