Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Poha Aloo Tikki Recipe

  • Pressed rice 1 cup

  • Potatoes boiled 3 medium

  • Green chillies 3

  • Salt to taste

  • Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Roasted peanuts crushed 1/2 cup

  • Oil to shallow

Method

Step 1

Place the poha over a sieve and pour water over it to moisten it.

Step 2

Chop green chillies and add it to mashed potatoes in a bowl. Add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, crushed peanuts and poha and mix together.

Step 3

Heat 3-4 tbsps oil in a non stick pan. Shape the poha mixture into round tikkis and place them on the pan and shallow fry on medium heat, turning sides, till both sides are golden.

Step 4

Drain on absorbent paper and serve hot.
