Ingredients list for Refried Beans

  • 250 grams Red Kidney Beans soaked
  • 4 cloves Cheddar Cheese
  • 10-12 Bay leaf
  • 3 t tablespoons Oil
  • 3 medium Onions,chopped
  • to taste Salt
  • 10-12 Black peppercorns freshly ground
  • 1/2 cup Cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup Salsa

Method

  1. Drain and put the beans in a large saucepan with garlic cloves and bay leaf. Cover with cold water and bring to the boil. Simmer and cook gently until the beans are very tender.
  2. Drain the beans, reserving the cooking liquid. Discard the bay leaf. Mash the beans coarsely with a potato masher or process in a blender or food processor, adding some of the reserved liquid.
