Ingredients for Steamed Date Pudding Recipe

  • Refined flour pitted and chopped 1 cup

  • Dates

  • Soda bicarbonate 1/2 teaspoon

  • Butter 90 grams

  • Brown sugar 1/2 cup

  • Vanilla essence 1 teaspoon

  • Eggs 2

  • Refined flour (maida) sifted 1 cup

Method

Step 1

Soak the dates in one cup of hot water. Add soda bicarbonate and set aside to soften.

Step 2

Take butter in a bowl, add brown sugar and cream together till the sugar dissolves. Add vanilla essence and eggs and mix well. Add flour and mix well. Add the dates along with the water and mix.

Step 3

Heat sufficient water in a steamer. Pour the mixture into the muffin moulds. Sprinkle a little brown sugar on the top and keep the moulds in the steamer and steam for about twenty minutes.

Step 4

Unmould and serve.
