Why is it that when you are stuck at “what should we cook today” the answer is always “make some aloo!” Potatoes are like this…extremely popular and have multipurpose usage.

And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Sweet Potato Tots Recipe

  • Sweet potato boiled, peeled and mashed 1 large

  • Egg 1

  • Refined flour (maida) ½ cup

  • Salt to taste

  • Paprika 1 teaspoon

  • Garlic Powder 1 teaspoon

  • Oil for deep-frying

  • Bread crumbs Panko 1 cup

Method

Step 1

Mix together sweet potato, egg, ¼ cup flour, salt, paprika and garlic powder in a bowl and knead into a dough.

Step 2

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.

Step 3

Take the remaining flour in another bowl and add some water to make slurry.

Step 4

Divide the sweet potato mixture into 16 equal balls. Dip them in the slurry and coat with breadcrumbs.

Step 5

Deep fry the balls in hot oil till golden brown and crisp. Drain on an absorbent paper.

Step 6

Serve hot.
