Corn was indigenous to America, but is now grown throughout the world. It is used as a vegetable, briefly boiled or roasted or eaten with butter. And it would also interest you to know that the favourite popcorn, made by popping the small corn kernels, is a wholesome cereal food and is easily digested. Besides this, corn sees its use in various other ways – salads, soups, subzis and even sweets too!

Cook time : 21-25 minutes

Ingredients for Sweetcorn Chowder Recipe

  • Sweet corn 1/2 cup

  • Olive oil 2 tablespoons

  • Onion 1 medium

  • Celery chopped 2 inch stalk

  • Vegetable soup 1 packet

  • Vegetable stock 3 cups

  • Salt to taste

  • Black peppercorns crushed 8-10

  • Corn kernels 1/4 cup

  • Green capsicum finely chopped a little

  • Lemon as required

  • Milk 1 cup


Step 1

Heat 2 tbsps olive oil in a non stick pan. Chop onion and add along with celery and saute.Add cream style sweet corn and mix.

Step 2

Put the soup packet contents into a bowl, add vegetable stock and mix well.Add this to the pan and mix. Add salt and crushed peppercorns and mix.

Step 3

Put some corn kernels in a soup bowl followed by green capsicum. Grate a little lemon rind over the soup and mix. Add milk and mix and cook till thick.

Step 4

Transfer into a sauce boat and pour over the garnish kept in the soup bowl. Serve piping hot.
