Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Tawa Prawn Masala - SK Khazana Recipe

  • prawns medium, cleaned, deveined and washed 18-20

  • onions medium, peeled 2

  • tomato large 1/2

  • coriander leaves sprigs 4-5

  • oil 2 tablespoons

  • ginger garlic paste 1 tablespoon

  • Salt to taste

  • turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • red chilli paste 1 tablespoon

  • lemon 1/2

  • Coriander sprig for garnish


Step 1

Chop onions, tomato, and coriander leaves. Set aside.

Step 2

Heat oil in a tawa, add onions and sauté till golden brown. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté well. Cook for 1-2 minutes.

Step 3

Add tomato, salt and sauté well. Cook till the tomatoes are pulpy. Add ½ cup water and mix well. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, and 3 tbsps water and mix well.

Step 4

Add red chilli paste, mix well and cook for 1-2 minutes. Add prawns, mix well. Add 2 tbsps water and mix well. Cook for 4-5 minutes.

Step 5

Add chopped coriander, squeeze lemon juice and mix well. Cook for 1 minute and take it off the heat. Serve hot.
