Ingredients
- 1½ cups shelled green peas
- 1 inch ginger piece
- 2 green chillies, roughly chopped
- 2 tablespoons oil
- ¼ teaspoon asafoetida
- ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
- 2 teaspoons coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- ½ teaspoon red chilli powder
- Salt to taste
- ½ teaspoon garam masala powder
Method
- Grind ginger and green chillies to a fine paste.
- Heat oil in a pan and add asafoetida. Immediately add mustard seeds and stir-fry till they splutter. Add ginger-green chilli paste and shelled green peas. Sauté for two minutes, stirring continuously.
- Add coriander powder, cumin powder and red chilli powder. Cook on medium heat for one minute, stirring continuously.
- Stir in two cups of water and bring it to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for ten to fifteen minutes, stirring occasionally, or till green peas are completely cooked.
- Stir in salt and garam masala powder and serve hot.
