Ingredient
- 3 medium onions, thinly sliced
- ½ kg.tomatoes, chopped
- 4 potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 10 whole red chillies
- ¼ cup scraped fresh coconut
- ¼ teaspoon fennel seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
- 2 tablespoons split skinless black gram (urad dal)
- 2 tablespoons oil .
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
Method
- Dry roast and grind the red chillies, scraped coconut, aniseeds, cumin seeds, poppy seeds and black gram to a fine paste.
- Heat oil in a kadhai and fry onions till crisp.
- Add chopped tomatoes, potatoes and fry for few minutes.
- Add ground paste with salt, stir for few minutes.
- Pour just enough water, close with lid and cook on low heat.
- When potatoes are cooked properly, remove from heat.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
