Ingredients list for Walnut and Chocolate Chip Cake

  • 1/4 cup Walnuts
  • 1/4 cup Chocolate chips
  • for greasing Butter 1 cup +
  • 1 cup Castor sugar (caster sugar)
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla essence
  • Refined flour (maida) 1 cup + for dusting and as required
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • as required Milk

Method

  1. Preheat oven at 180ºC.
  2. Roughly chop butter.
  3. Cream together chopped butter and castor sugar in a bowl till the mixture becomes light in colour. Add eggs, one by one, and whisk well after each addition. Add vanilla essence and whisk again.
  4. Sieve refined flour and baking powder into the butter-sugar mixture.
  5. Roughly chop walnuts, dust with some refined flour and mix. Add chopped walnuts and chocolate chips to the butter-sugar mixture and fold in gently. Add some milk to adjust the consistency and fold in again.
  6. Grease a baking tin with some butter and dust some refined flour.
  7. Put the prepared batter in the greased baking tin, spread evenly and tap. Place the baking tin in a baking tray, put the tray in preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven and set aside down to cool down to room temperature. Demould and serve.
