How many times have we thought rice is a blessing? We use it for holy purposes but we also can pressure up a quick pulao or khichdi when hunger pangs are drumming away! This is one grain that is about 98% percent digestible. In India we are familiar with Basmati, Patna or brown rice but it is also available as Italian Rice and Glutinous Rice which is popular in Chinese and Japanese cuisines.

Ingredients for Yellow Rice With Raisins Recipe

  • Rice 1 1/4 cups

  • Rasins to taste

  • Turmeric powder 1 1/2 teaspoons

  • Raisins 1/2 cup

  • Black peppercorns freshly ground 1/2 teaspoon

  • White peppercorns freshly ground 1/2 teaspoon

  • Green peppercorns freshly ground 1/2 teaspoon

  • Green cardamom powder 1/4 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Boil three and a half cups of water with salt and add rice. Add turmeric powder and cook till almost done. Add raisins.

Step 2

Mix well and add freshly ground peppercorns, white and green pepper. Add green cardamom powder and mix well. Cover and cook for three to four minutes. Serve hot.
