Ingredients list for 5 Spice Chicken Skewers with Chilli Soy Sauce

  • 3 Boneless chicken breasts
  • 3 tablespoons Chilli sauce
  • 1 tablespoon 5 spice powder
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce 2 teaspoons +
  • to taste Salt
  • ½ cup Crushed black peppercorns
  • ¼ cup Yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • for garnishing Sesame seeds (til) 2 tablespoons +
  • for garnishing Fresh coriander sprigs a few

Method

  1. Cut chicken breasts lengthwise into one by three.
  2. Combine 2 teaspoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon chilli sauce, 5 spice powder, salt, crushed peppercorns and yogurt in a bowl and mix well.
  3. Put chicken pieces in the yogurt mixture, mix well and set aside to marinate for an hour.
  4. Skewer marinated chicken pieces onto bamboo skewers.
  5. Heat oil in a non-stick pan.
  6. Top the chicken skewers with 2 tablespoons sesame seeds and place them on the pan. Cook, rotating the skewers, till the chicken is fully done all around.
  7. To make sauce, combine remaining chilli sauce and remaining soy sauce in a bowl and mix well.
  8. Garnish chicken with sesame seeds and coriander sprigs and serve hot with chilli-soysauce.
