Ingredients list for Apple Goduma Payasam

  • 1 Apple
  • 1/2 cup Broken wheat (dalia/lapsi)
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon Green cardamom powder
  • 3 tablespoons Ghee
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 8-10 Cashewnuts halved
  • 1 tablespoon Raisins
  • 3-4 Fresh mint leaves

Method

  1. Mix milk and sugar in a non-stick pan. Add cardamom powder and boil.
  2. Heat 1½ tbsps ghee in another non-stick pan, add dalia and sauté on a medium heat till light brown.
  3. When the milk starts boiling, add the sautéed dalia and mix well. Cook till payasam thickens.
  4. Peel and chop apple and add to the payasam and cook.Heat remaining ghee in a small non-stick pan.
  5. Add cashewnuts and raisins and sauté.Add them to the payasam and mix well.
  6. Cook for 2-3 minutes. When it cools down to room temperature, chill it in the refrigerator.
  7. Garnish with a few slices of apple and mint leaves and serve.
