You might be picking out these emerald hued little jewels from your food. But, wait, before you do that anymore! As these are a good source of fibre and potassium, which keeps all of our body cells functioning properly. Just when you thought that green peas are only used to add that extra punch to your savoury dishes, try a rich, creamy matar ki kheer to satiate your sweet buds too!

Ingredients for Baked Matar Ghugra Recipe

  • Green peas boiled and crushed coarsely 1 cup

  • Ready-made puff pastry sheet 200 grams

  • Oil 1 tablespoon + for greasing

  • Green chillies finely chopped 1-2

  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Sugar 1 teaspoon

  • Lemon juice 1 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add green chillies and sauté for 30 seconds. Add green peas, mix and sauté on medium heat till the mixture is dry.

Step 2

Add garam masala powder, salt, red chilli powder, sugar and lemon juice and mix well. Transfer the mixtureonto a plate and let it cool down completely.

Step 3

Preheat oven to 180°C.Grease a baking tray with a little oil.

Step 4

Cut puff pastry sheet into thick strips and roll each strip into a tight ring(like for lachcha parantha). Flatten each ring and roll out into thin disc.Place a portion of stuffingon one side, apply water on the edges, fold other side over the stuffing and press the edges to seal.Pinch the edges to make a design.

Step 5

Arrange them on the greased baking tray, keep the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 8-10 minutes.

Step 6

Arrange on a serving plate and serve warm.
