And did you always think that eating a potato will make you fat?
Well, don’t – it is a surprising source of vitamin C and provides useful amounts of starch, thiamine and niacin and around a hundred grams will provide about eighty calories.

Ingredients for Batata Song Recipe

  • Potatoes 4 large

  • Tamarind 2 large

  • Dried red chillies seeded 8-10

  • Tamarind 1 lemon size ball

  • Coconut oil 3 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Lightly roast and grind red chillies with tamarind and a little water to a fine paste. Heat oil in a frying pan and sauté the onions till light brown.

Step 2

Add the ground paste and sauté for two to three minutes. Add the potato pieces and mix well. Add one cup of water and salt and simmer on low heat till a thick gravy is formed. Serve hot with puris or chapattis.
