Ingredients

  • 1 cup moong dal
  • ½ cup cooking chocolate, cut into small cubes
  • 2-3 tablespoons refined flour
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1½ tablespoons melted butter
  • ¼ teaspoon green cardamom powder
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk
  • ½ cup fresh cream
  • Slivered almonds for garnish

Method

  1. Put moong dal in a bowl, add sufficient water and soak for 4-5 hours. Drain and blend with very little water to a thick and smooth paste.
  2. Transfer the paste into a large bowl, add refined flour, powdered sugar, cocoa powder and break in an egg. Add melted butter, green cardamom powder and baking powder and mix well.
  3. Add milk to adjust the consistency. Let the batter rest for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Heat a non-stick tawa.
  5. To make chocolate ganache, heat a small non-stick pan, add fresh cream and cook till it is about to come to a boil.
  6. Grease the tawa with melted butter and pour ladlesful of batter to make 3 pancakes. Cook on low heat for 2-3 minutes, flip and cook for 4-5 minutes.
  7. Take chocolate cubes in another bowl, add the hot cream and leave it for 2 minutes. Whisk well till all the chocolate melts and mixes with the cream.
  8. For serving, place pancakes on top of each other, drizzle the prepared ganache over them, garnish with almond slivers and serve warm.
