Ingredients
- 4 medium guavas
- 3/4 cup yogurt
- 1 tablespoon coriander powder
- 1/3 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dry mango powder (amchur)
- 4 tablespoons ghee
- 4 green chillies, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon fennel seeds (saunf)
- A pinch of asafoetida
- 2 medium tomatoes, chopped
- Salt to taste
- 1/3 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
Method
- Deseed and cut guavas into small pieces. Whisk yogurt with the powdered spices except garam masala powder.
- Heat ghee, add green chillies, cumin seeds, fennel seeds followed by asafoetida and stir.
- Add whisked yogurt, tomatoes, salt and stir for a while. Add three fourth cup of water and let it boil. Add guava and let the gravy boil. Lower heat, cover and cook stirring occasionally.
- When guavas are cooked, add garam masala powder and cook for a further three to four minutes.
- Sprinkle lemon juice and sugar and stir. Serve hot.
