You might be picking out these emerald hued little jewels from your food. But, wait, before you do that anymore! As these are a good source of fibre and potassium, which keeps all of our body cells functioning properly. Just when you thought that green peas are only used to add that extra punch to your savoury dishes, try a rich, creamy matar ki kheer to satiate your sweet buds too!

Ingredients for Greenpeas Kachori Recipe

  • Green peas mashed 1 cup

  • Cinnamon 1 inch stick

  • Cloves 4

  • Green cardamoms 4

  • Black peppercorns 4

  • Coriander seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Ginger paste 1 teaspoon

  • Green chilli paste 2 teaspoon

  • Roasted peanuts coarsely powdered 4 tablespoons

  • Walnuts powder 3 tablespoons

  • Raisins 8-10

  • Powdered sugar 2 tablespoons

  • Lemon juice 2 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Asafoetida 1/2 teaspoon

  • Refined flour (maida) 3 cup

  • Oil 2 cups

Method

Step 1

Heat a non-stick pan. Add cinnamon, cloves, green cardamoms, black peppercorns, coriander seeds and cumin seeds and roast it for a minute.

Step 2

Remove and cool and then grind it to a fine powder. To the same pan add the green peas and saute for five minutes.

Step 3

Remove and transfer it to a bowl. Add the ground spice mixture, ginger paste, green chilly paste, roasted peanuts, walnut powder, raisins, powdered sugar, lemon juice, salt and hing and mix well.

Step 4

Divide the dough into eight equal portions.Meanwhile make the dough using maida, salt and water. Divide it in eight equal portions.Stuff the balls with the green peas mixture and shape them in the form of kachori.

Step 5

Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Deep fry the kachoris till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper. Serve hot with chutney.
