Ingredients list for Grilled Shalgam with Honey Mustard

  • 4 medium Turnips peeled, thickly sliced and parboiled in water with
  • 3 tablespoons Honey
  • 3 tablespoons Honey
  • 3 tablespoons Kasundi mustard
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • 8 Garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger finely chopped
  • 1 Green chilli finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • a pinch Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dried mango powder (amchur)
  • to taste Salt
  • A fresh mint sprig for garnishing

Method

  1. Heat 2 tbsps oil in a non-stick grill pan, add turnip slices and grill.
  2. To make dressing, mix together kasundi mustard, honey and lemon juice and set aside.
  3. When the underside turns golden, flip the turnip slices and grill on the other side till evenly done.
  4. Heat remaining oil in a non-stick pan. Crush garlic cloves and add to this pan. Add ginger and green chilli and sauté till garlic is lightly browned.
  5. Add the turnip slices to this pan. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, dried mango powder, salt and dressing and toss well.
  6. Transfer into a serving plate, garnish with a mint sprig and serve hot.
