Ingredients for Hercules Bar Recipe

  • Walnuts 1 cup

  • Ghee 3 tablespo for greasing

  • Finger millet (nachni) flour 1 cup

  • Peanuts , roasted 1/2 cup

  • Indian gooseberry (amla) candies 1 cup

  • Jaggery , chopped 1 1/2 cups

  • Green cardamom powder 1/2 teaspoon


Step 1

Grease a tray with ghee.

Step 2

Blend walnuts to a coarse powder.

Step 3

Heat ghee in a deep stainless steel pan, add finger millet flour and walnut powder, mix and sauté for 1-2 minutes.

Step 4

Blend peanuts to a fine powder and add to the pan. Mix and cook on low heat for 2-3 minutes, stirring continuously.

Step 5

Chop amla candies and add to the pan. Mix and cook, stirring continuously, on low heat for 4-5 minutes or till the colour of mixture changes to brown.

Step 6

Add jaggery and green cardamom powder and mix. Cook till jaggery melts and mixture leaves the sides of the pan.

Step 7

Pour the mixture into the greased tray and spread evenly. Set aside to cool down.

Step 8

Cut into bars and serve immediately.
