Malabar Prawns A recipe from the coastal regions of Kerala. The gravy has a vibrant yellow colour and coastal flavours from the prawns, coconut and the curry leaves. By Sanjeev Kapoor 18 Mar 2021 in Recipes Course New Update Main Ingredients Tiger prawns, Salt Cuisine Kerala Course Snacks and Starters Prep Time 26-30 minutes Cook time 16-20 minutes Serve 4 Taste Spicy Level of Cooking Easy Others Non Veg Ingredients list for Malabar Prawns 16 Tiger prawns shelled and deveined to taste Salt 1 tablespoon Lemon juice 1 1/2 teaspoons Red chilli powder 2 tablespoons Oil 2 White onions sliced 1 inch Ginger cut into strips 2-3 Green chillies seeded and cut into thin strips 1 inch Fresh turmeric cut into strips 16-20 Curry leaves to garnish Fresh coconut scraped to garnish Fresh coriander sprig Method Take prawns in a bowl, add salt, lemon juice and chilli powder, mix well and set aside to marinate for 10-15 minutes. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add onions, mix and sauté till translucent. Add ginger, green chillies and fresh turmeric, mix and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add curry leaves and mix well. Add prawns, mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes or till the prawns are done.
