Just when you thought that green peas are only used to add that extra punch to your savoury dishes, try a rich, creamy matar ki kheer to satiate your sweet buds too!

Ingredients for Matar Malai - SK Khazana Recipe

  • Frozen green peas 1 cup

  • Malai 2-3 tablespoons + For garnish

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Asafoetida 1/4 teaspoon

  • Salt to taste

  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon

  • Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon

Method

Step 1

Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds and asafoetida and let the seeds change colour. Add green peas, mix and sauté for 2-3 minutes.

Step 2

Add salt, turmeric powder, coriander powder and red chilli powder and mix well.

Step 3

Add malai and mix well. Add garam masala powder and mix well.

Step 4

Transfer into a serving bowl, garnish generously with malai and serve hot.
