Ingredients list for Microwave Prawn Balchao

  • 500 grams Prawns
  • 12-15 Whole dry red chillies
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 inch piece Ginger
  • 15-20 cloves Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 10-12 Cloves
  • 2 inch stick Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 cup Malt vinegar
  • 1/2 cup Oil
  • 2 medium Onions chopped
  • 4 medium Tomatoes chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar

Method

  1. De-vein prawns. Wash thoroughly under running water and remove excess water.
  2. Add salt and set aside. Grind ginger, garlic, cumin seeds, red chillies, cloves, cinnamon and mustard seeds with vinegar to a fine paste.
  3. Take oil and onions in a microwave bowl and cook, uncovered, on Microwave HIGH (100%) for four minutes.
  4. Add ground paste, tomatoes and cook, covered, on Microwave HIGH (100%) for four minutes.
  5. Add prawns, salt and sugar and cook, covered, on Microwave HIGH (100%) for three minutes. Serve hot.
