Ingredients 

  • 4 burger buns
  • ¾ cup paneer
  • 1 medium raw banana, boiled, peeled and grated
  • ¼ cup boiled green peas
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala powder
  • Salt to taste 
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • 3 tablespoons breadcrumbs + for coating
  • Oil for shallow-frying
  • 3-4 tablespoons mayonnaise 
  • ½ teaspoon mustard paste 
  • Crushed black peppercorns to taste
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped mixed capsicum (red, yellow and green)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped purple cabbage 
  • Butter as required
  • Few iceberg lettuce leaves
  • 4 cheese slices
  • 8 tomato roundels 

Method

  1. To prepare tikkis, mix together raw banana, cottage cheese and green peas in a bowl. Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, garam masala powder and salt and mix well. 
  2. Add coriander leaves and 3 tablespoons breadcrumbs and mix well.
  3. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape into tikkis. 
  4. Spread some breadcrumbs on a plate and coat each tikki. 
  5. Heat some oil in a non-stick pan. Place the tikkis and shallow-fry from both sides on low heat till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper. 
  6. Mix together mayonnaise, mustard paste, crushed peppercorns, mixed capsicum and purple cabbage in a bowl.
  7. Halve the burger buns vertically.
  8. Heat a non-stick tawa. 
  9. Apply some butter on the cut side of each burger halve, place on hot tawa with butter side downwards and toast till golden brown. Flip and toast till golden brown. Transfer on the worktop.
  10. To prepare one burger, spread some mayonnaise mixture on the toasted base bun.  Place few torn lettuce leaves, one tikki, 2 tomato roundels and top with some mayonnaise mixture.
  11. Place a cheese slice and cover with the toasted top bun. 
  12. Serve hot.
