History of Indian cuisine dates back to nearly 5,000-years ago when various groups and cultures interacted with India that led to a diversity of flavours and regional cuisines.
Indian cuisine comprises of a number of regional cuisines.  The diversity in soil type, climate, culture, ethnic group and occupations, these cuisines differ from each other mainly due to the use of locally available spices, herbs, vegetables and fruits. Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Peanut Chaat Recipe

  • Raw peanuts 2 cups

  • Salt to taste

  • Green chillies finely chopped 1-2

  • Fresh coriander leaves chopped 1 tablespoon

  • Onion finely chopped 1 medium

  • Tomato finely chopped 1 medium

  • Chaat masala 1 teaspoon + for sprinkling

  • Cumin powder roasted 1 teaspoon + for sprinkling

  • Lemon juice 1 tablespoon

  • Red chilli powder to sprinkle


Step 1

Pressure cook peanuts with salt and4 cups water till 5 whistles are given out. Remove from heat, drain and transfer in a bowl.

Step 2

Combine peanuts, green chillies, chopped coriander, onion, tomato, salt, chaat masala, roasted cumin powder and lemon juice and mix.

Step 3

Put in individual serving bowls and sprinkle some chilli powder, chaat masala and roasted cumin powder on top.

Step 4

Serve immediately.
