Italian cuisine has developed through centuries of social and political changes, with roots stretching to antiquity.  Italian cuisine is simple and a number of dishes having only four to eight ingredients.  They rely mostly on the quality of ingredients rather than elaborate preparation.
Noteworthy changes in Italian cuisine happened with the discovery of the New World and the introduction of potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers and maize, which are now an integral part of this cuisine.  Italian cuisine is known for its regional diversity each with a distinct taste.  This cuisine today is probably one of the most popular in the world.

Ingredients for Pesto Recipe

  • Fresh basil leaves 12-16

  • Pine nuts (chilgoze) 1/2 cup

  • Garlic 8-10 cloves

  • Parmesan cheese 100 grams

  • Olive oil 4 tablespoons

  • Salt to taste

  • Black peppercorns , crushed to taste

  • Spaghetti , boiled 1 cup to serve

  • Fresh basil sprigs a few to garnish


Step 1

To make pesto sauce, put cloves in a blender jar, add Parmesan cheese, pine nuts and blend. Add basil leaves, olive oil, salt and crushed black peppercorns and blend into a coarse paste. Transfer into a serving bowl.

Step 2

Heat pasta in a non-stick pan, add pesto sauce and toss well for 1-2 minutes. Remove the pan from heat and transfer onto a serving plate.

Step 3

Garnish with basil sprigs and serve.
