Indian food is also influenced by religious and cultural choices and traditions. 
Foreign invasions, trade relations and colonialism had introduced certain foods to the country like potato, chillies and breadfruit.

Ingredients for Pumpkin Shrimps Recipe

  • Pumpkin peeled and cut into 1 cm cubes 1/2 kilograms

  • Shrimps peeled and deveined 1/2 kilogram

  • Oil 2 tablespoons

  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon

  • Dried red chilli 2

  • Bay leaf 1

  • Cumin powder 2 tablespoons

  • Red chilli powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • Green chilli 3-4

  • Salt to taste

  • Potato cut into small cubes 2 medium

  • Garam masala powder 1/2 teaspoon

  • coriander leaves chopped 2 tablespoons

Method

Step 1

Marinate the pumpkin pieces and potato pieces with turmeric and salt and keep it aside for half an hour.

Step 2

Heat one tablespoon oil in a non stick pan and shallow fry the pumpkins and potatoes till golden brown.

Step 3

Heat one tablespoon oil in a non stick pan and add cumin seeds, dry red chillies and bay leaves.

Step 4

Add shrimps, pumpkin, potatoes and saute for a minute.

Step 5

Add cumin powder, red chilli powder, slit green chillies and salt.

Step 6

Cover and cook. Stir occasionally Add garam masala and coriander leaves.
