Ingredients list for Sabut Moong ki Kadhi

  • 1 1/2 cups Whole green gram (sabut moong) soaked overnight and drained
  • 2 1/2 cups Buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons Besan
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Fenugreek seeds
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida
  • 4-5 Curry leaves
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic paste
  • 1 Small onion finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • to taste Salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dried fenugreek leaves (kasuri methi)

Method

  1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves and garlic paste, mix and sauté till lightly browned.
  2. Add onion, mix and sauté till golden brown. Add green grams, turmeric powder, salt, red chilli powder, coriander powder, mix well, cover and cook for 2 minutes.
  3. Take buttermilk in a bowl, add besan, whisk well till no lumps remain.
  4. Pour this mixture into the pan, keep stirring and cook till the mixture comes to a boil.
  5. Add dried fenugreek leaves, mix well and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot.
